چکیده

We presents major extension of the widely used TORQUE Resource Manager. Unlike common resource managers that use queuing approach, our solution uses planning (job schedule construction) and schedule optimization in order to achieve better predictability, performance and fairness with respect to common queue-based approaches. Moreover, additional important features are supported, e.g., so called multi resource fairness that is used to fairly prioritize users subject to their (highly) heterogeneous demands concerning various system resources. Also, new textual and graphical interfaces allow users to better control and plan computation of their jobs. Our solution is currently undergoing experimental deployment in Czech national Grid MetaCentrum.

Optimizing speed and angle control of stepping motor by using field oriented control

In the present study, field oriented control of step motor implementation has been analyzed sothat it can make a Sensorless control. Efficiency and Facilities of step motor is more than othertypes of electromotor. Therefore, the numbers of mechanisms and different types of turning canbe made into them. Also controlling these motors is easier than other available motors. Steppingmotor has been d...

Opportunity Scheduling: An Unfair CPU Scheduler for UNICOS

Fair Share is the standard scheduling algorithm used for political resource control on large, multi-user UNIX systems. Promising equity, Fair Share has instead delivered frustration to its Los Alamos UNICOS users, who perceive misallocations of interactive response within a system of unreasonable complexity. This paper reviews the design of the Kay/Lauder Fair Share system, as well as its Cray ...

Achieving fair share objectives via goal - oriented parallel computer job scheduling policies

supported on many production systems. However, fair share has been shown to cause performance problems for some users, especially the users with difficult jobs. This work is focusing on extending goal-oriented parallel computer job scheduling policies to cover the fair share objective. Goal-oriented parallel computer job scheduling policies have been shown to achieve good scheduling performance...

Evaluating per-user Fairness of Goal-Oriented Parallel Computer Job Scheduling Policies

Fair share objective has been included into the goaloriented parallel computer job scheduling policy recently. However, the previous work only presented the overall scheduling performance. Thus, the per-user performance of the policy is still lacking. In this work, the details of per-user fair share performance under the Tradeoff-fs(Tx:avgX) policy will be further evaluated. A basic fair share ...

Production Experiences with the Cray-Enabled TORQUE Resource Manager

High performance computing resources utilize batch systems to manage the user workload. Cray systems are uniquely different from typical clusters due to Cray’s Application Level Placement Scheduler (ALPS). ALPS manages binary transfer, job launch and monitoring, and error handling. Batch systems require special support to integrate with ALPS using an XML protocol called BASIL. Previous versions...
